Our Process…systematic, comprehensive, in-depth

Our Financial Planning Process – A Lifetime of Financial Guidance

Having a sound, lifetime financial plan built from collaborating with a trusted advisor can give you confidence in achieving your goals. CAFG uses a systematic, in-depth approach that seeks to reflect all your priorities and specific life circumstances. In developing a comprehensive financial plan, we use a 4 stage process. Those four stages include: Discovery & Organization, Planning & Prioritizing, Strategies & Solutions, and Monitoring & Adjusting.

Discovery and organization of your complete financial picture

In the Discovery and Organization stage, we begin the dialogue by asking you a lot of questions about what you are thinking, feeling, worried about; experiences with money; what has been accomplished so far, and what is most important for us to know about.

We help you get organized, know what you have, where it is, and determine what to do with it. Using a proprietary wealth management tool, we then help organize everything you own into one clear and complete financial picture. We help keep that financial picture updated so together we are able to make informed and intelligent decisions, not only today, but also over the course of a lifetime.

Planning and prioritizing based on where you are and where you seek to go.

Next, in the Planning and Prioritizing stage, we work with you to analyze, understand and answer three key questions:

  • What do you want to accomplish with your wealth?
  • What are the gaps that exist between what you want and your current situation?
  • What are your priorities and objectives based on any gaps that are discovered?

The answers to these questions are uncovered through an in-depth review of the following six major areas:

1. Financial Position: Understanding of your current financial situation. Sources of evaluation include income, expenses, assets, liabilities, etc.

2. Protection Planning: Uncovering financial risks that could lead you to potential catastrophic losses

3. Investment Planning: Determining the most suitable way to structure your  investments to meet your financial goals

4. Income Tax Planning: Evaluating your current tax situation to help minimize your taxes and find more profitable ways to use the extra income generated

5. Retirement Planning: Assessing your retirement needs to help you determine how much to accumulate, as well as distribution strategies designed to create you a source of income during your retirement years

6. Estate Planning: Planning for the smooth settlement of your estate

Develop the strategies and solutions that can help you get there.

Through the open and honest dialogue with you that began in the Discovery and Organization stage, and the in-depth review and understanding of your goals and objectives developed in the Planning and Prioritizing stage, we are now able to put into place a very personal and customized course of action.

At this stage, we discuss more about the various ways to accomplish the objectives before selecting those financial products and services which will best meet your needs. CAFG is an independent wealth management group. This independence allows us to be completely client-centered and able to make non-biased recommendations that are right for you. By completing our due diligence through detailed market research and analysis, we are able to take advantage of any opportunity determined to be the most effective for a client’s personal situation.

Ongoing management to keep you on track

In the Monitoring and Adjusting stage, we retrace our steps and look at what we have learned and recommended in the prior three stages.

Different products and services are necessary for different life stages. For example, a new job, getting married, addition of children, changing jobs, divorcing and remarrying, parent care, retirement (early/late), and legacy planning, to name a few, all require specific and different investment strategies.

Because the Monitoring and Adjusting stage is never finished, we can help anticipate and react to the unexpected and adjust your plan.

Your solutions will change as your life changes.
